Counseling in the Time of a Pandemic

The world has changed drastically in the past few days. For many of us the changes have caused anxiety, or made any underlying anxiety worse. Stress and anxiety may also be rearing its head in your marriage or family life. Some of you may have been struggling with something in your marriage or within yourself prior to all of this happening and were considering counseling. While my practice is changing for the time being to an exclusively online format I am still seeing current and new couple and individuals.

The idea of online counseling may seem intimidating or uncomfortable at first but after meeting a time or two online most people find it quite comfortable. One advantage is that clients can remain in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Online counseling of course keeps clients and their loved ones safe from germs, bacteria, and viruses. Finally, online counseling allows people who need help or support with the current stressors or preexisting stressors to access the same high quality assistance that I normally offer face to face in my office.

Remember that God does not intend for us to be stressed or anxious, even in very difficult times. In John 14:27 (RSVCE) Jesus reminds us, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” So if you are struggling to find and maintain peacefulness and calm during this time please reach out by phone, email, or through my “Contact me” form, to set up a free 30 minute online consultation to try out the online format, and to see if I might be able to be of assistance for your particular needs and concerns.
